What if the Torah's central message is love? Torat Ahava: Loving Torah is Rabbi Avi Weiss's thematic commentary on the Torah. It comes as a five-volume boxed set, with one volume for each of the Five Books of Moses.

The title carries a twofold message. "Loving" can be read as a verb, reflecting the author's passion for Torah. In the words of the Psalmist, "How I love Your Torah, I meditate on it all day long" (Psalms 119:97). It can also be read as an adjective, reflecting what Rabbi Weiss sees as the foundation of Torah. At its core, Torah is a book of love, and each letter expresses God's infinite love for His people and for humankind.

Rabbi Weiss examines each Torah portion, exploring the people, stories and moral challenges of the text. He draws on classical Jewish sources and on his decades of teaching and spiritual leadership. The set can be used as a companion to the weekly parashah or read for spiritual reflection, and it suits lifelong learners, educators and rabbis.

Rabbi Avi Weiss is the founding rabbi of the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale - the Bayit, in the Bronx, New York. He founded the Yeshivat Chovevei Torah rabbinical school, co-founded Yeshivat Maharat and the International Rabbinic Fellowship, and is a longtime activist for Jewish causes, Israel and human rights.
