A Hebrew children's book: שני גבאים קטנים (The Two Little Overseers of the Synagogue) by Dr. Lillian Steiner together with Miriam Peretz, illustrated in color.
The book tells the story of Uriel and Eliraz Peretz, Miriam's sons, who grew into exemplary young men and soldiers who defended the people of Israel with a sense of mission. Uriel, an officer in the Golani Brigade, fell in battle in Lebanon at age 22. Eliraz, a deputy battalion commander, fell in Gaza at age 32, a father of four. The book celebrates their values of giving and wholehearted dedication rather than dwelling on loss, so children can learn from their lives.
It is the first book in a memorial initiative that brings the values of fallen soldiers to children. Hardcover, 48 pages, Gefen, 2017.
