The Mystery of Creation According to Rashi is Pinchas Doron's new translation and interpretation of Rashi's commentary on the opening chapters of Genesis, chapters 1 through 6.
Doron gives a fresh English translation of the biblical verses that reflects Rashi's reading, with Rashi's own words rendered in simple, clear English. Each passage is followed by a Companion, a running super-commentary that sets out the questions and problems in the Hebrew text that Rashi is answering. It then develops in detail the religious, philosophical and ethical ideas that Rashi states briefly or only hints at.
A good choice for students, teachers and anyone who wants to read Rashi on the story of Creation slowly and with real understanding. Rabbi Pinchas Doron, born in Poland in 1933, holds a Ph.D. in Hebraic Studies from New York University.
