Siamo Qui, Siamo Vivi - We Are Here Alive! (Hebrew)

This is the Hebrew edition of Roberto Mazzoli's Siamo Qui, Siamo Vivi, published in Hebrew as אנחנו כאן, בחיים! (The Diary of Alfredo Sarano), translated from Italian by אלון אלטרס.

Alfredo Sarano was secretary of the Jewish community of Milan during the Second World War. Based on his diary, the book lets his own voice tell the history of Italian Jewry as he lived it, day after day. Thanks to his resourcefulness, his courage and his devotion in handling the Milan community's lists, some 13,500 Jews were saved.

Mazzoli, a journalist, came to the story by chance, through a small booklet given to him by Franciscan friars in Pesaro. The Hebrew edition also includes words by Liliana Segre, senator for life. Paperback, Gefen, 2021.
