This is the Hebrew edition of Miriam's Song, published in Hebrew as שירת מרים: סיפורה של מרים פרץ. Written by Smadar Shir and published by Yedioth Books in 2011, it tells the life story of Miriam Peretz.
The story begins in Casablanca, where Miriam was born, and follows her family's immigration to Israel and the life they built there. At its heart is a mother who lost two sons serving in the IDF: Uriel, a Golani officer killed by a Hezbollah explosive in 1998 at the age of 22, and Eliraz, killed in Gaza in 2010 at the age of 32, leaving a widow and four children.
Rather than retreat into grief, Miriam turned to education and volunteering, visiting schools and army bases to share her sons' values. The book speaks of motherhood, faith, love of the land and the strength passed down from her own mother. A moving read for anyone drawn to Israeli family stories and personal resilience.
