A Hebrew novella by Haim Sabato: גלגל חוזר בעולם, in a new jubilee edition of his first book, first published twenty-five years earlier.
Sabato comes from a family of rabbis from Aleppo in Syria and came to Israel at age seven from Cairo, to the transit camp in Beit Mazmil in Jerusalem. The novella weaves together the story of one family's journey from Aleppo to Paris and then to Jerusalem, wrapped in a sorrow that even the beauty of Sabato's rich, classic Hebrew cannot hide.
For this edition the author added a new story, entirely true, that meets the story he once imagined: an account of what actually happened in real life years after the book came out. For readers of Israeli literature and of Sabato's other books. 160 pages, Yedioth Books and Sifrei Aliyat Hagag, 2022.
