Burgos, Spain, late 14th century. The lives of Joanna and her husband, the rabbi of the city and the confidant of the king of Castile, are peaceful and comfortable until in 1391 everything falls apart. The rabbi abandons his faith, his wife and his congregation, and Joanna is left alone, without her children, heartbroken but upright.

Jerusalem – Hamburg – Burgos, 2020. The global epidemic closes Ruth in her home in Jerusalem and in her loneliness she traces Joanna's forgotten story. The plague is also evident in the desolate streets of Burgos where Johanna wanders from Hamburg imbued with a mission: to gather information and write to Ruth, so that she may be able to redeem Joanna from oblivion.

The rabbi's wife, the bishop's wife, is a story about two women and one man who embark together on a literary, historical and personal journey following the true-life story of a third, brave and special woman. It is a human story of betrayal and loyalty that unfolds a winding journey between past and present that moves between social networks and yellowing pages of Jewish history full of upheavals and pain.
