As the Jewish people’s living memorial to the Holocaust, Yad Vashem was established in 1953, as the world center for documentation, research, education and commemoration of the Holocaust.

Yad Vahsem is located on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. The complex houses the Holocaust History Museum, memorial sites such as the Children's Memorial, a synagogue, archives, a research institute, library amd a publishing house. Yad Vahsem Publications is one of Israel's most well known and prestigious publishing houses.
