Aryeh Naftaly studied music at U.C. Berkeley and the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem. A multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer, lyricist, arranger and producer, he founded Third Age Productions in 1991, coining the phrase Alternative Jewish Music. He worked with Jewish music legend Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach for many years, producing two albums and a documentary film. Aryeh has written over 1,000 songs in English and Hebrew and released ten albums of his own material with the pioneering band Ayn Safeq (house band of the Uri Zohar TV show among other things), as a solo act, and with his current band The Elevators. He has accompanied and produced some of Israel's leading artists including Ehud Banai, Meir Ariel, Hadara Levin-Areddy, Dudi Levi and many more.
Aryeh is also one of Israel's leading Hebrew/English translators in the field of theater, film and television, having translated over 3,000 feature films, documentaries, television shows and series, scripts and screenplays.
Aryeh was born in San Francisco, California in 1961, moved to Israel in 1981, and has lived with his wife Sara Naftaly, silversmith, in the village of Moshav Mevo Modiim, Israel since 1987.
