Having escaped from pre-War Poland for the safety of England, Stanley Abramovitch has been driven his whole life to help his fellow Jews in need around the world. Abandoning the promise of rabbinical and academic careers, he began a lifelong quest on the Jewish people''s behalf when he joined the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee as a volunteer in Germany''s displaced persons camps in 1945. From that first posting, Abramovitch has served Jews in Iran and western Europe, in North Africa, Israel, and the former Soviet Union. Six decades later and his contributions continue.
