Schnabel was born in Tel Aviv and grew up in Raanana. Schnabel began her journalistic career as a municipal reporter for the Tel Aviv newspaper. She later moved to New York where she continued to write for magazines, whilst also working in the world of television, producing screenplays and developing ideas for programs. She later returned to Israel, where she settled in Ramat HaSharon and began writing novels.
