Raised by survivors of the Holocaust and educated at the Real Gymnasium of Vienna, Austria, Nissel is a prolific author on a wide range of contemporary topics. Inspired by the heroic stories of her parents during the war and her training in short story writing, she began describing dramatic events in the lives of those around her. Nissel’s writing soon evolved into a recognizable style of glorifying the mundane. Today, one can read the intimate characterizations of Nissel’s protagonists in Jewish journals around the world.
